Ann Boyer Holmes, MSW

Ann received her BA from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. She went on to study psychology at George Mason University working as a research assistant in a PhD. lab studying cognitive vulnerability to anxiety. She recently received her Masters of Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in Northern Virginia. Ann has worked as a case manager for families in transitional housing, and currently as a psychotherapist at The Women’s Center in Vienna VA with a focus on anxiety issues, domestic violence, life transitions, marital issues and family dynamics.
Ann works with adolescents and adults, individuals, couples and families from a humanistic and cognitive behavioral perspective. She believes that all change and growth comes from within the individual and works to help each person find their inner optimist. In keeping with her social work roots, Ann currently leads a group called “Mom’s Night Out” for the Affordable Housing Corporation in Arlington – a combination support and psycho-educational group.
Ann has worked as a substitute teacher at the elementary and middle school levels, a religious education teacher, and a girls’ soccer coach for SWYA.
Ann lives in Northern Virginia with her husband Mark, three teenage daughters, two cats, one dog and a guinea pig. Ann loves to read, listen to live music and dance.
